Knowing how to peel an avocado is not rocket science

Need to know how to peel an avocado? It’s easier than you think.

Easy to do with no mess to it

You can very easily clean an avocado using the tools that are already present in your kitchen. And the best part is that you can do it without creating any mess at all. First, you need to get an avocado that is ripe. The first clue to getting a ripe fruit is the color. Most of the avocados that you get in grocery stores are of the Hass variety. As such, these are almost always very dark green and wrinkly when ripe.

However to confirm the ripeness of the fruit, you must squeeze the avocado. When you do this, it should 'give' a little to the pressure of your hand. If in doing so, you find that it ‘squishes’ rather than 'gives', this means that it is overripe. But, if it does not ‘give’ at all, it means that it is just not ripe enough. But you can easily ripen this fruit by placing them in a paper bag with an apple. Then just leave the fruit in the bag on the kitchen counter, for a couple of days, after this you will have ripe avocados.

What next?

Your next step would be to slice the avocado in half and separate the halves. You need to very cautiously slice it lengthwise, all the way around. You will know that you have sliced through as the pit will stop the blade of your knife. After this, take each half of the avocado in the palm of each hand. Then, twist them in opposite directions, very gently. As the fruit is soft and smooth, it will separate very easily.

After this, you have to remove the pit. The safest way to do so is to use the soup spoon to gently pry the pit away from the fruit. Another way of doing this is by using the leverage of a knife. Just tap the avocado pit with the blade of the knife. By doing so, the knife will lodge itself firmly in the pit.

Do not use excessive force as you would only splatter yourself with avocado pulp. Then, twist the knife handle slightly and lift. In this way, you should very easily be able to remove the pit. Then all you have to do is just separate the skin from the fruit and this can very easily be done with a soup spoon. There you go, now you know how to peel an avocado.
